Marine Mammals and Tide Pools:
Given our proximity to the Pacific Ocean, Camp Summit offers campers at our western location the opportunity to meet with local marine experts and access to the tide pool lab located directly on site. In addition, campers that choose this activity are able to visit the Marine Mammal Rescue Center, located a short hike from camp, to witness marine biologists work on rehabilitating injured ocean mammals or, if they are lucky, watch the scientists perform surgery on a seal.
Again, given our prime location on Rodeo Beach campers can engage in the study of oceans and marine eco-systems at Camp Summit West.
Remember driving race cars at the local arcade or on your X Box? Now you can test that skill but with a caveat: In Hyper Math you have to solve challenging math problems in order to accumulate parts to build your race car. The further you go, the faster your machine.
A favorite with numerous campers, the beach allows campers to relax in the sun, play in the surf, build sand structures, or search for sea glass. In 2015, we were fortunate enough to witness the reintroduction of two California Sea Lions back into the sea from the Marine Mammal Rescue Center. The seals obliged with a nice surfing performance much to the delight of spectators.
